Hi there,

If you’re unaware, the author of this newsletter is an older millennial. So when someone mentions TikTok, my first thought is the classic Ke$ha song, not the social media platform. That bit of context will matter later in this newsletter.

 

Anyway, what do we have this week? ANOTHER new product release, a host of events you won’t want to miss (or replay), a collaborative article we wrote with Becker’s Hospital Review, and the latest web tracker lawsuit.

Product Update

 

If it seems like we have a new product release every week, there’s a simple reason for that. It’s because lately, we’ve had a new product release every week. Our product team is full steam ahead; they’ve got their foot on the gas; what other cliches can we write here?

 

Cliches aside, this week’s release is a big one. It’s called Web Tracker Monitoring. It’s designed to solve two steps in the Privacy-First Framework: audit and monitor. Web Tracker Monitoring scans your entire website to find web trackers that might be collecting PHI. When it finds risky trackers, it proactively alerts you about them. 


This approach helps you stay compliant today and in the future.

Industry News

 

BCBS was recently hit with a lawsuit over TikTok. Turns out they had been listening to the classic Ke$ha song too much and people were sick of it. 

 

Oh wait, no, they were sued over the other TikTok. The social media platform. The lawsuit had nothing to do with our favorite popstar from the 2000s and everything to do with web trackers – specifically TikTok’s web tracker that was monitoring website visitor activity. 

 

It’s a good reminder that the risk of web trackers on healthcare websites is not limited to just Google and Facebook’s trackers. The risk is for all web trackers that collect PHI.
