Last week's mention of em dashes in the newsletter sparked quite the discussion here at Freshpaint (we really know how to have a good time). One of our software engineers, Dylan, pointed out that there are actually three types of dashes...each with its own specific use:
Use a hyphen(-) to join words.
Use an en dash (–) for ranges.
Use an em dash (—) for emphasis and interruptions.
And if you're wondering how to use them all correctly in one sentence, Dylan has you covered there as well:
We expect 10–20 student-teachers—individuals who are undergoing but have not yet completed their educational certification—to be at the event tomorrow.
The more you know.
Alright, enough with the grammar lesson. Here’s what’s new this week:
An update to GA4 tracking
Events!
Updates on Meta's data restrictions
Oracle is getting spicy
Let's get into it...
Product Update
We just made GA4 tracking even easier for customers with complex setups. Our new update gives you more control over which pages or domains are measured through the GA4 proxy.
With this update, you can:
Scope GA4 Proxy measurement to specific pages or domains with a simple setup.
Ensure accurate attribution by automatically adding the right properties to each page_view event.
Track engagement events with confidence so scrolls and other key interactions are captured correctly.
All you need to do is implement a custom page_view event for the pages or domains you want to track, and Freshpaint will handle the rest.

Freshpaint's Compliant Corner
Meta’s latest data-sharing restrictions are shaking up healthcare marketing. While healthcare advertisers rely on patient journey data to optimize campaigns, Meta is tightening controls on what can be tracked and used for ad targeting.
Here’s what you need to know:
Some healthcare advertisers face partial restrictions based on how Meta categorizes their business.
Attribution challenges ahead -- certain mid- and lower-funnel conversion events may be blocked.
Workarounds exist, but require adjustments -- marketers may need to shift optimization strategies to upper-funnel events.
Compliance is key -- violating Meta’s new policies could lead to enforcement actions, including declining ad delivery.
If Meta is a key part of your advertising strategy, staying ahead of these changes is crucial.
Oracle EVP Ken Glueck just called out Epic Systems in a spicy blog post, arguing that healthcare modernization requires real investment in cloud computing, AI, and interoperability—not just polished PR.
Here are the need-to-knows from the blog post:
Oracle criticizes Epic's approach as outdated and focused more on image than innovation.
Epic allegedly tried to discredit competitors through anonymous Wikipedia edits...odd, right?
Glueck calls for true interoperability and tech-driven improvements to benefit clinicians and patients.
This debate highlights the growing tension in healthcare IT. As data privacy and interoperability become more critical, expect to see more scrutiny on how major players approach innovation.
