Last weekend I celebrated National Ice Cream Day with a hefty scoop (okay, it was two hefty scoops) of my shop’s new chocolate gooey brownie flavor. While in the midst of my sugar rush, I learned that National Ice Cream Day has actually been a federally-recognized day since 1984. But what’s even crazier is that the entire month of July is recognized as National Ice Cream Month.
Rest assured I’ll be dutifully observing this extended holiday—and probably getting bombarded with targeted ads for ice cream for the next 90 days. Of course, the only thing sweeter than a scoop of ice cream is a scoop of healthcare privacy insights.
Here’s a taste of we’re covering this week:
A teaser for a new programmatic advertising integration
A healthcare marketer’s guide to class action lawsuits
The HIPAA Journal’s healthcare data breach statistics
…and much more

The healthcare industry is at the epicenter of a huge wave of privacy-related class action lawsuits. Take Mass General Brigham for example, which was ordered to pay $18+ million to settle a class action suit centered around web trackers.
Class action lawsuits pose major financial and reputational risks. That’s why we created this ultimate guide to how these lawsuits work and, more importantly, what you can do to avoid them.
The HIPAA Journal recently compiled healthcare data breach statistics from the past 15 years, and the consensus is clear: breaches are on the rise, despite warnings to ramp up security measures. In fact, 2023 set two new records—the most reported data breaches and the most breached records.
Is this a huge concern? Absolutely. But it’s also a huge opportunity for healthcare organizations to audit and optimize their data safety practices. Need help assessing your website’s privacy risks? Get a free web tracker report from Freshpaint.
