Industry News
In a rare turn of events, this week’s news coverage isn’t related to U.S. healthcare. But it might be soon.
A few days ago, the Swedish data protection authority (IMY) dealt a $1.4M fine to an online bank for using Meta pixel on its website and mobile app—a violation of Sweden’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). According to the IMY, the bank wrongly transferred the personal data of up to a million users to Meta over the course of two years.
This case foreshadows what we expect to see more of here in the U.S. Many state-level data privacy laws, such as the California Consumer Protection Act (CCPA), mirror Sweden’s GDPR.
The consensus is clear: Consumer privacy laws are getting more stringent, and the fines and penalties when violated are real.
Of course, privacy doesn’t have to come at the cost of performance. If you want to mitigate your risk of getting in hot water with regulators and achieve your marketing goals, Freshpaint’s Healthcare Privacy Platform can help.
