Hey there,

Lately readers of this newsletter have been asking if it's written by AI. I can't decide if I should be flattered or frustrated by that question. Like, apparently it's so well written that it seems too well written. That's a compliment, right?

 

On the flip side, I put a lot of thought into writing this every week. I make sure it actually sounds like me. So if an AI could do that just as well…well, that’s kind of unsettling.

 

But here’s an easy way to tell if I used AI...if you spot an em dash in this newsletter, it’s a dead giveaway. Not because I don’t know when to use one, but because I still haven’t figured out the keyboard shortcut to type it.

    On January 22, 2025, New York State passed the Health Information Privacy Act (NY HIPA), aiming to strengthen the regulation of consumer health data. If enacted, NY HIPA will be among the most comprehensive health data privacy laws in the U.S., following similar legislation in Washington, Nevada, and Connecticut.
